Profession and field of psychology
The Danish Psychological Association’s work related to the profession and field includes the development of the psychological field, linking professional psychologists’ services with the legislation, and handling of sociopolitical interests.
In the social and health political area we seek to ensure that:
- Socially vulnerable groups, especially children and adolescents, are guaranteed actual and adequate oversight from the State.
- The new councils will establish and offer child clinical psychological treatment programs to children and their families.
- Pedagogical psychological counseling is organized and staffed so that it will play a key role in the overall endeavors with children and adolescents.
In the professional area we aim at:
- Making the psychologists’ educational background for psychotherapeutic practice visible and providing legal protection for the title of psychotherapist.
- Supporting the formation of a unified norm and standardization within the area of testing.
- Providing psychologists with a more pivotal role in psychiatry.
- Ensuring that legislation of significance to the psychology profession recognizes the work of psychologists to the highest possible degree.
- Supporting the establishment of a European Psychology Diploma as well as a European Diploma as a specialist in psychotherapy.
Our special target areas are
Depression and anxiety; Children, families and society; Crisis counseling; Psychiatry; Psychotherapy; Healthcare; and Testing.
